01 — Stock & Availability

STOCK & AVAILABILITY

ℹ Stock Updates

Rare Breed Triggers restocks regularly — and sells out fast. The best way to be first in line is to visit the individual product pages on raresbreedtriggers.com/shop and sign up for in-stock email notifications. When a restock goes live, notification subscribers are alerted immediately.

Current models we stock include the FRT-15L3, FRT-15L3 Flat, FRT-15C3, FRT-MR3, FRT-MR3 Flat, and the FRT-RD3 SEF. Check each listing for real-time availability.

Note: Rare Breed Triggers does not presell and does not take backorders. They only sell when inventory is physically in stock — meaning what you see available on the page is ready to ship.

No. Rare Breed Triggers has a firm policy of not preselling and not accepting backorders. Every order is fulfilled from verified in-stock inventory. This ensures every customer receives a product that has passed the manufacturer’s function check and is ready to ship immediately. If a product shows as unavailable on the shop page, sign up for restock alerts and check back frequently.

Orders placed through raresbreedtriggers.com typically ship within 1–3 business days of purchase. Once your order ships, a tracking number is emailed to the address on file — check your spam folder if you don’t see it within 24 hours of ordering. For questions about a specific order’s status, reach out via the contact page.

02 — Where to Buy

WHERE TO BUY

ℹ Authorized Retailer

The safest and most reliable place to buy Rare Breed Triggers is through an authorized retailer. Raresbreedtriggers.com is your trusted authorized source, carrying the complete current lineup of genuine FRT products — stocked, verified, and shipped directly to your door.

When searching where to buy Rare Breed Triggers, be extremely cautious. The market is saturated with counterfeit sites using similar domain names (rarebreedtrigger.org, rarebreedtriggersco.com, rarebreedtriggerltd.com, etc.) that sell cloned or gray-market triggers. Always verify you are purchasing from raresbreedtriggers.com or another confirmed authorized dealer.

Our full product lineup available for purchase:

This is one of the most important questions any buyer can ask. The explosion in demand for Rare Breed Triggers products has spawned dozens of fake or copycat sites. Here’s how to verify legitimacy:

  • Buy only from confirmed authorized retailers — including raresbreedtriggers.com
  • Look for a secure HTTPS connection and a professional, complete website
  • Check for real, verifiable contact information — not just a web form
  • Be suspicious of sites offering unusually deep discounts, crypto-only payments, or “no records kept” shipping
  • If you encounter a scam site, file a complaint at IC3.gov (FBI Internet Crime Complaint Center)

When in doubt, contact us directly and we’ll confirm whether you’re dealing with a legitimate source.

Raresbreedtriggers.com accepts all major credit and debit cards. For specific payment questions or to confirm current accepted methods, visit the contact page or check the checkout screen. We do not require cryptocurrency and will never ask you to pay via gift card, wire transfer, or other non-standard methods.

ZERO COMPROMISE

Every Rare Breed Triggers FRT ships function-tested, USA-made, and backed by patented technology.

03 — Legality & Law

LEGALITY & THE LAW

Rare Breed Triggers FRTs are designed, engineered, and sold as semi-automatic triggers. They fire one round per single deliberate trigger pull — the legal standard for semi-automatic function under federal law. Rare Breed Triggers has consistently maintained and successfully defended this position in federal court, obtaining favorable rulings protecting the FRT-15 and successor models from reclassification.

At the federal level, as of the time of writing, the FRT-15 and associated models have received legal protection through federal court injunctions in the Northern District of Texas. Rare Breed, backed by the National Association for Gun Rights and Texas Gun Rights, continues to pursue this case up through the appellate courts.

That said, state and local laws vary significantly. It is the sole responsibility of the buyer to verify legality in their specific jurisdiction before purchasing. For federal guidance consult ATF.gov. For state-level guidance, contact your state attorney general’s office or a licensed firearms attorney in your state.

⚠ State Laws Vary

Rare Breed Triggers are not illegal at the federal level — they have been upheld by federal courts as semi-automatic triggers, not machine guns. However, the question of whether Rare Breed Triggers are illegal depends heavily on where you live. Several U.S. states have enacted laws that specifically restrict or ban forced reset triggers regardless of their federal classification.

States where Rare Breed Triggers currently does not ship FRTs due to applicable state laws include:

  • California (CA)
  • Connecticut (CT)
  • Delaware (DE)
  • Hawaii (HI)
  • Illinois (IL)
  • Massachusetts (MA)
  • Maryland (MD)
  • New Jersey (NJ)
  • New York (NY)
  • Oregon (OR)
  • Rhode Island (RI)
  • Washington (WA)
  • Washington D.C.

This list is subject to change as laws evolve. Always verify current regulations with ATF.gov and your state’s firearm authority before placing an order at raresbreedtriggers.com. Orders placed to restricted states will be canceled and refunded.

Rare Breed Triggers has been at the center of one of the most significant Second Amendment legal battles in recent years. Federal agencies sought to reclassify the FRT-15 as an automatic weapon — a classification Rare Breed has vigorously contested in court.

Key milestones include a favorable injunction in the Northern District of Texas protecting customers and the product line. Rare Breed has partnered with the National Association for Gun Rights (NAGR) — the only national organization to support them throughout this fight — and Texas Gun Rights at the state level. The case is expected to continue through the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals and potentially to the Supreme Court.

Purchasing from raresbreedtriggers.com means supporting a company actively fighting for the rights of law-abiding gun owners across the country.

No. Rare Breed Triggers does not make exceptions for law enforcement officers or FFLs in states where FRTs are restricted. State law applies equally regardless of professional status. If your state is on the restricted list, the order will be canceled and fully refunded regardless of the buyer’s occupation. For the full current list of restricted states, refer to the product pages on raresbreedtriggers.com/shop.

05 — Products & Models

PRODUCTS & MODELS

The original FRT-15 was a 2-position trigger (Safe / Forced Reset). It did not include a disconnector and could not operate in standard semi-automatic mode. The FRT-15L3 is the current generation 3-position trigger (Safe / Semi / FRT) featuring significant internal redesign, an added disconnector for standard semi-auto function, a proprietary 3-position ambidextrous safety selector, and improved durability. The geometry of the L3 housing is materially different from the original — it is not possible to retrofit a first-generation FRT-15 with L3 components.

No. The selector included with the FRT-15L3 is proprietary and is specifically engineered to work with the trigger’s 3-position mechanism. Standard or aftermarket 3-position selectors are not compatible with the FRT-15L3 and must not be substituted. Using the included proprietary selector is required for the trigger to function correctly and safely.

The pull is heavier in FRT mode because the selector, when engaged in the FRT position, also engages the disconnector spring — adding approximately 2 lbs of additional resistance on top of the standard hammer spring and trigger return spring tension. This is an intentional design characteristic of the FRT-15L3 and is consistent across all units. It is not a defect. The standard semi-auto position does not engage the disconnector spring, resulting in a lighter, crisper feel.

Yes — extensively. Rare Breed Triggers conducted a 10,000-round torture test on the FRT-15L3 to assess durability, component wear, and operational reliability under sustained heavy use. The results were well within expected performance parameters. Independently, Regular Guy Training LLC ran a separate FRT-15L3 through 6,000 rounds in a single month and published a comprehensive review on YouTube. Customers in our shop regularly report 1,000–2,000+ round counts with zero malfunctions.

The FRT-MR3 is Rare Breed Triggers’ forced reset trigger purpose-built for mini rifle and pistol-caliber carbine (PCC) platforms — including AR-9 (9mm), AR-45 (.45 ACP), and similar builds. If you’re running a PCC and want the same forced reset speed that AR-15 shooters enjoy with the FRT-15L3, the FRT-MR3 is your solution. A flat-bow variant, the FRT-MR3 Flat, is also available.

06 — Compatibility

FIREARM COMPATIBILITY

The FRT-15L3 is compatible with MIL-SPEC AR-15 lower receivers with an unmodified standard trigger group cavity. It is a true drop-in unit requiring no machining, permanent modification, or gunsmithing. If your lower is mil-spec (the overwhelming majority of commercially available AR-15 lowers are), the FRT-15L3 will fit. For any compatibility questions, contact us with your specific lower details.

The FRT-15L3 requires a full-auto compatible bolt carrier group (BCG) for the forced reset lug to engage properly during the cycling stroke. A standard mil-spec semi-auto BCG will not provide correct reset function. For the buffer, an H2 or H3 carbine weight buffer is strongly recommended. An A5 buffer system is also compatible. Lighter buffers may cause reliability issues under high-speed cycling. The FRT-MR3 has its own compatibility requirements — contact us for PCC-specific setup guidance.

The FRT-15L3 and FRT-15C3 are designed specifically for the mil-spec AR-15 platform in standard centerfire calibers (5.56, .223, .300 BLK, etc.). For AR-9 or pistol-caliber carbine builds, use the FRT-MR3 or FRT-MR3 Flat. For rimfire applications, the FRT-RD3 SEF is available for compatible builds. The FRT-15 is not designed for the AR-10 / .308 platform. Browse the full range at raresbreedtriggers.com/shop.

07 — Installation

INSTALLATION & SETUP

Yes — every Rare Breed Triggers FRT-15L3 is a true drop-in unit. No gunsmithing, no machining, and no permanent alteration to your firearm is required. Installation typically takes 10–20 minutes for someone with basic firearm maintenance experience. The trigger ships with anti-walk pins included for a secure, wobble-free fit. General steps: unload and safe your firearm → field strip and separate upper/lower → remove existing trigger group → drop in the FRT assembly and install anti-walk pins → function check all positions. For specific guidance, reach out to our team.

The most common cause of cycling issues with the FRT-15L3 after installation is an incompatible BCG or too-light a buffer. Ensure you’re running a full-auto BCG and at minimum an H2 carbine buffer. Also verify the anti-walk pins are fully seated and the proprietary selector is properly installed. If issues persist after verifying these components, contact our support team with your specific rifle configuration and we’ll help diagnose the issue.

08 — Shipping & Orders
